ABOUT COUNTY LAW LIBRARIES IN CALIFORNIA
California Statutes provide that every county has a public law library. (BUSINESS & PROFESSIONS CODE SECTIONS 6360-6365) County law libraries have existed in California for over 100 years.
Each library is funded primarily by a portion of certain filing fees. (BUSINESS & PROFESSIONS CODE SECTIONS 6320-6326)
The Law Library is governed by a BOARD OF TRUSTEES, some appointed by the courts and some appointed by the SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS. (BUSINESS & PROFESSIONS CODE SECTIONS 6300 & 6301)
The Council of California County Law Librarians is an organization that meets twice a year to discuss matters that affect all of the libraries -- such as legislation, technology, vendors, and ways of better providing legal information services to the public.
