TRUSTEES
California Statutes provide that a BOARD OF TRUSTEES shall govern the Law Library. (Business & Professions Code Section 6300) There shall be 6 or 7 trustees. The office of trustee is honorary, without salary.
In San Joaquin County, the judges of the superior court shall elect either four or five of their number to serve as trustees. Any of those judges may designate a county resident or member of the State Bar to act for the judge.
The chair of the county board of supervisors is a member. The board of supervisors may appoint another member of the board of supervisors, a member of the State Bar, or a county resident to act for the chair. This term expires when a new chair of the board of supervisors is selected.
The board of supervisors shall appoint any additional trustees.
No more than 2 trustees may be county residents who are not county judges or members of the State Bar or board of supervisors. (Business & Professions Code Section 6301)
